GENERAL INFORMATION ON USAGE OF DIAPHRAGMS AND CERVICAL CAPS Diaphragms and cervical caps are vaginal barrier methods of birth control. Each type is manually inserted into the vagina and placed over the cervix, to prevent sperm from entering the uterus and fallopian tubes. Diaphragms and cervical caps serve the same function. They differ slightly in size and in fit. The amount of time you can leave them inserted also differs. Diaphragms and cervical caps have similar success rates for preventing pregnancy (79% for purpose of roleplay using Conception add-on). cervical_cap WHAT IS A CERVICAL CAP? Cervical caps are a barrier method of contraception. They are made from silicone rubber that is hormone-free. Their shape is sometimes referred to as a thimble or sailor’s hat. They are inserted into the vagina in the same way as tampons. Cervical caps comes in three sizes. Your avatar will need to be fitted for a VAYA c ervical cap by a physician. It is only available by prescription. Once inserted, a cervical cap should fit snugly over your avatar's cervix. This prevents sperm from entering the uterus and fallopian tubes. To be effective, cervical caps must be used with spermicide. (This is not simulated by the product). Cervical caps can be inserted 15 minutes up to 2 hours prior to having vaginal sex. For the cap to be effective, leave it inside your body for at least 6 hours after sex. This helps ensure that the captured sperm outside the cap have time to die and cannot enter the uterus. Cervical caps can remain in place for up to 2 SL days (8 RL hours) . It has a removal strap you grip with your finger when you are ready to remove it. (To remove it, just detach it from your avatar). Leaving it in too long may result in vaginal irritation, discharge or infection. Cervical caps are reusable and typically last for about a year. Your avatar should get refitted for a new cervical cap by a physician annually. WHAT IS A DIAPHRAGM? Like cervical caps, diaphragms are a reusable form of barrier birth control. They are dome-shaped and foldable. You insert a diaphragm into your vagina the same way you do a tampon. The VAYA diaphragm comes in three sizes. It is best for your avatar to be fitted for a diaphragm by a physician. It is available for purchase with or without a prescription. Diaphragms fit over the cervix and surrounding area. Once inserted, they are meant to remain lodged behind the pubic bone. Like cervical caps, they stop seminal fluid from entering the uterus and fallopian tubes. Use a spermicide along with your diaphragm (not simulated by the product). Diaphragms can be inserted 15 minutes up to 2 hours prior to having vaginal sex. Your avatar can wear a diaphragm for up to 1 SL day (4 RL hours). Leaving it in for a longer period of time may lead to a bacterial infection or toxic shock syndrome . Consumables Hunger Thirst Making consumables Restaurants Mesh Creator Partners Ready-made consumables Supermarket Suggestions and feedback Consumables Consumables Consumables are scripted food and beverage items which can replenish your Hunger and Thirst need meters. A food item with Nutrition value of +20 will decrease your Hunger by 20%. A beverage item with Hydration value of +20 will decrease your Thirst by 20%. Here are some example consumables with their values: Donut: Nutrition +20 Short latte: Hydration +10; Toilet -10 Tall latte: Hydration +20; Toilet -20 You can make your own consumables too. Or visit a restaurant that serves food and drinks that replenish your needs. NEW Photo by Engelsstaub Resident Hunger Hunger This is a basic need that is required for survival. If the Hunger meter drops to 60%, your avatar's stomach will growl. If the Hunger meter drops to 0%, your avatar will suffer health damage (if in damage-enabled zone) and the Health meter will start to drop. Eventually your avatar can die of starvation. Consuming food will restore your avatar's Hunger meter. If you have the Really Needy [CONSUME] script, you can drop it into your own food items to make it compatible with the Really Needy HUD. You can configure if your scripted food item can only be consumed by your avatar or also by other avatars. If your avatar is pregnant, the Hunger meter drops twice as fast. If your avatar is sitting, the Hunger meter drops half as fast. Some food items (for example, juicy fruits) can simultaneously satisfy Hunger and Thirst. Design principles for the Hunger meter: Too much urgency can be a bad thing. Hunger can provide the motivation for roleplay scenes - having to steal food, find work or allies to share food. The threat of starvation can create tension and a sense of urgency, but it should not be a constant grind where you are always looking for food, which would take the fun out of roleplaying. The default rate is set at a rather forgiving pace, though sim-owners can customise it to be faster if the sim is survival-themed. Always hungry? In real life, when you eat a meal, you don't immediately start getting hungry again. There are games or HUDs where the Hunger meter starts dropping shortly after you fill it to 100%. While it is unrealistic, there are players who also wish to see the meter drop gradually rather than a chunk. To balance this, the Hunger meter drops gradually but the owner emotes (eg. "You are feeling hungry") only appear at 80%, 60%, 40%, 20%, 0% intervals of the meter. Nutritional value . Some types of food may be more nutritious than other foods. Besides filling your stomach, it may take you longer before you get hungry again. To simulate this, it is possible for your Hunger meter to go beyond 100%. The Thirst meter should not be dropping at the same rate as the Hunger meter. Depending on climate and surroundings, humans can die from dehydration within a few days, but can last longer without food. Caffeine and alcohol have diuretic effects . Hence beverages containing caffeine should decrease your Toilet meter even as they quench your Thirst. Alcoholic beverages will probably just decrease your Toilet meter without quenching your thirst. Thirst Thirst This is a basic need that is required for survival. If the Thirst meter drops to 40%, your avatar will have chapped lips If Thirst meter drops to 0%, your avatar will suffer health damage (if in damage-enabled zone) and Health meter will start to drop. Eventually your avatar can die of thirst. Consuming water or beverages will restore Thirst meter. If you have the Really Needy [CONSUME] script, you can drop it into your own beverage items to make it compatible with the Really Needy HUD. Making consumables Making your own Consumables If you would like to make your own consumables which are compatible with the HUD, you can buy the [CONSUME] script, which can be used for restoring Hunger and Thirst. You can buy a pack of 20 [CONSUME] scripts from my in-world store for L$20. (Reference on box sticker: C1 ). Each script is good for making a consumable with 1 feed. To increase the number of feeds to 2, 3, 4 or 5, buy a box of 20 [FEED] scripts (reference on box sticker: F1 ) for L$80 and drop it inside your consumable object with the [CONSUME] script. ⚡ INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING *Really Needy [CONSUME] v4.0 (C1) SCRIPT TO MAKE CONSUMABLE ❶ Preparing the configuration card Create a notecard in your inventory. Rename it so that it starts with an asterisk * and is followed by the name of your object. For example if your object is named Yummy Burger , then name your notecard as * Yummy Burger In the notecard, insert the line "TYPE 0" if it is food, or "TYPE 1" if it is a beverage. (Without the quotation marks, in capital letters) TYPE 0 are items which will be found by the HUD if the user says "/eat". Main property of the item should be to restore Hunger TYPE 1 are items which will be found by the HUD if the user says "/drink". Main property of the item should be to restore Thirst Next insert the line "HUNGER 20" or "THIRST 20" to restore 20% of your Hunger or Thirst meter. Change the value as required. Insert the line OWNERONLY if you want the item to be restricted to consumption by the owner only. Save the notecard. SAMPLE CONFIG CARD If the user clicks on the item, it will show Nutrition: 20, which means the user can eat it to restore 20% of the Hunger meter. TYPE 0 HUNGER 20 SAMPLE CONFIG CARD If the user clicks on the item, it will show Hydration: 40, which means the user can drink it to restore 40% of the Thirst meter. TYPE 1 THIRST 40 TYPE 1 THIRST 20 FEEDS 5 SAMPLE CONFIG CARD This beverage can be drunk 5 times* , and each time will restore 20% of the Thirst meter. (Rule of thumb: 250ml of water = 20%) ❷ Preparing your food / beverage item Right-click on your object and choose Edit. Go to the "Contents" tab of the Edit window. Drop the configuration notecard you have prepared into the Contents of your object. Drag the [CONSUME] script from your inventory into the Contents of the object. Type the command in chat or use the shortcut For Type 0, say "/eat" within 10m of your object. (Or press F6 key on your keyboard if the gesture is activated). For Type 1, say "/drink" within 10m of your object. (Or press F7 key on your keyboard if the gesture is activated). Click on your object and your avatar's Hunger/Thirst meter should be restored. * See section below on making consumables with multiple feeds ⚡ MAKING CONSUMABLES WITH MULTIPLE FEED S Drag the [FEEDS] script (sold separately) from your inventory into your consumable which contains the [CONSUME] script (C1). This increases the maximum allowed number of Feeds stored in the object to 5. The script will self-delete after updating your object. In the configuration notecard, insert the line "FEEDS 5 " to allow the food/beverage to be consumed 5 times. (Change the value to a lower number than 5 if you like). Save the config notecard. The [CONSUME] script should reset itself and read the config notecard again. You should see a message "➤ FEEDS initialised as 5 ". ⚠ If you drop the [FEEDS] script into an object which has not been installed with the [CONSUME] script before hand, it will not work. ⚠ If you move the [CONSUME] script out of the object after you have added the feeds, the feeds remain with the object, but the object cannot be consumed without the [CONSUME] script. ADVANCED CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS These are additional configuration options available for advanced users to make Consumables. Item would set itself to a z-position 1cm higher when rezzed to table/ground. Change the value as required. Item would set itself to a rotation of when rezzed to table/ground. Change the x, y, and z values as required. Item would set itself to a rotation of when attached. Change the x, y, and z values as required. Item would set itself to a position of when attached. Change the x, y, and z values as required. When item is attached, this animation will be played (animation need to be put into Contents of item). Change anim1_name to the name of your animation as required. When attached item is consumed, this animation will be played (animation need to be put into Contents of item). Change anim2_name to the name of your animation as required. When attached item is consumed, the above animation (anim2_name) will be played for 10.6 seconds.This simulates the process of eating so that it doesn't vanish instantly upon consumption. Change the value to the duration you want to play the animation, as required. Turns on steam particles. Turns off steam particles. SKIN EFFECTS PACK Installation Instructions skinfx-setup Follow these steps to setup the following skin effects to work with your Really Needy HUD: Waterdrops - Steps 3 to 7 Dirty Face & Body - Steps 8 to 9 Tired Face - Steps 10 to 11 Chapped Lips - Steps 12 to 13 If you bought the Skin Effects Pack from Marketplace, you can jump to the Express Setup Instructions below. Unpack the box you received from your purchase. Open your Inventory window (Recent tab) to find the folders you unpacked. There should be 5 folders: Open a new (second) Inventory window. Make a #Izzie’s folder within the #RLV folder in the root level of your inventory. If you don’t already have a #RLV folder, create one. Create a subfolder in the #Izzie’s folder and name it “Wet ”. (Optional) Copy the “Underwater” source folder and contents to the “Wet ” folder you created. Copy the tattoo layer “Izzie's - Face & Body Dirt ” from the source folder into the “Dirt” subfolder you created. (Choose the version appropriate for your skintone) Create a subfolder in the #Izzie’s folder and name it “Tired ”. Within it, make two more subfolders called “Tired Eyes” and “Tired Face”. Copy the tattoo layers "Izzie's - Tired Eyes " and "Izzie's - Tired Face combined " from the source folder into the subfolders within “Tired”. You can customise your own mix by choosing multiple layers for Tired Face instead of using the combined layer. Also, choose the version appropriate for your skintone. If you have followed steps 9 to 12, it should look something like the following: Create a subfolder in the #Izzie’s folder and name it “Chapped Lips ”. Copy the "Chapped Lips " tattoo layer from the source folder into the "Chapped Lips" folder. Choose the appropriate version for your skintone. It may look a little different if you are using a different viewer. Explanation: When your avatar's Thirst meter drops to 40% or below, the contents of the Cracked Lips folder will be auto-attached (added). When Thirst meter is higher than 40%, the contents of the folder will be auto-detached. Congratulations, you are done! If you have finished the above steps to install the Skin Effects Pack, it will look like the pic below, if you collapse the subfolders. EXPRESS SETUP INSTRUCTIONS (FOR MARKETPLACE DELIVERY) Copy and paste the #Izzie's folder in your SKIN EFFECTS PACK delivery folder into the #RLV folder in your Inventory. If you don’t already have a #RLV folder, create one. If you already have a #Izzie's folder, go to step 2. Create a subfolder in the #Izzie’s folder and name it “Breasts ”. Create subfolders in "Breasts" called "Baseline", "Cycle" and "Pregnant". Browse through the different tattoo layers in your "Izzie's - Breast Veins & Stretch Marks " folder in your inventory. (Bought separately) Copy the desired tattoo layers into "Cycle" and "Pregnant". If you would like your avatar to have slightly larger breasts due to hormonal changes in the female cycle, or due to pregnancy, make copies of your avatar's shape with different breast sizes. Put the normal shape into "Baseline". Put the shape with slightly larger breasts into "Cycle". Put the shape with enlarged breasts into "Pregnant". For example, my avatar's normal breast size is 55. During Days 18 to 20 of the Cycle, I would like the breast size to slightly increase to 60. If pregnancy button on the HUD is pressed, breast size will increase to 70. To set this up, this is what my folders would look like: Explanation: Contents of "Cycle" subfolder will be auto-attached (added) when your avatar reaches Day 18 of your Cycle, and auto-detach when your avatar reaches Day 21. For example, this is what I chose for my avatar: If you have dark skin tones, you may also try putting in more than 1 layer in the subfolder, as wearing multiple layers will raise the intensity. Depending on the extent of damage, a different subfolder will be auto-selected by the HUD, with Body01 being the lowest and Body05 being the highest damage. A Really Needy Associate is a content creator in Second Life who is incorporating Really Needy scripts into their creations to make them compatible with the Really Needy ecosystem, in order to sell or re-sell these creations to users. Creations could include food and beverage items for consumption (to restore Hunger and Thirst), or various types of furniture - such as beds and sofas (to restore Energy), showers and bath-tubs (to restore Hygiene) and toilets (to restore Toilet). By paying a flat fee for an Associate License , you agree to the conditions specified for the type of license and are granted certain scripts for use within your creations. Hygiene Usables Energy Toilet Making Usables Suggestions and feedback Usables Usables Usables are scripted objects which can replenish your avatar's Energy , Hygiene and Toilet meters. For example, a bed with Rest value of +20 will restore Energy meter by 20% every 10 seconds that your avatar rests on it. a shower with Cleanse value of +40 will restore Hygiene meter by 40% every 10 seconds that your avatar is using it. a water closet with Relief value of +40 will restore Toilet meter by 40% every 10 seconds that your avatar is using it. Photo by Engelsstaub Resident Energy Energy This meter indicates how much physical energy your avatar has. The lesser the meter, the more tired your avatar is. The meter slowly decreases when your avatar is awake. If Energy is below 40%, your avatar will start to look tired . If your avatar runs out of Energy, your avatar will collapse from exhaustion. Proper rest or sleep will restore Energy meter. When Energy meter reaches 0%, Health meter will also start to drop. Typically items that restore Energy would be furniture like bed, mattress, sofa, chair. An energy drink or caffeine shot could also give a boost. If you have the *Really Needy [USE] script, you can drop it into your own furniture to make it compatible with the Really Needy HUD. Your avatar can also use someone else's furniture (if they have the [USE] script inside) to restore Energy, just like in RL. Sitting will half the rate which Energy meter drops. This works even on furniture without the [USE] script. Buy Hygiene Hygiene This meter will gradually decrease over the course of the day. Taking a shower or bath, or washing face/hands will restore Hygiene meter. The lower the Hygiene meter, the higher probability of catching a disease. When Hygiene drops to 20% or lower, your avatar may look dirty . Typically items that restore Hygiene would be private or public amenities like bath-tub, shower, sink, or personal hygiene products such as shampoo, soap, body wash, hand wash, toothbrush. If you have the *Really Needy [USE] script, you can drop it into your own items to make it compatible with the Really Needy HUD. You can also use another person's bath-tub or shower (if they have the [USE] script inside) to restore your Hygiene, just like in RL. But I would not recommend you use other people's toothbrush! Certain activities will cause your Hygiene to drop faster If Toilet meter reaches 0%, you will lose bladder control which will decrease your Hygiene instantly by 40%. If you are pregnant, the Hygiene meter drops twice as fast. Buy Really Handy Bathroom Soap is sold at the supermarket . Food for thought: If your Hygiene meter is low, should other people near you receive a message that you smell bad? Or perhaps even a stink cloud should appear? Your avatar can also use someone else's toilet (if they have the [USE] script inside) to restore Toilet meter, just like in RL. But it is polite to ask for permission first and don't forget to flush. Certain conditions will cause Toilet meter to drop faster Drinking caffeinated or alcoholic beverages will make it decrease faster. If your avatar is pregnant, the Toilet meter drops twice as fast. If your avatar is infected with certain diseases which makes him or her visit the toilet more frequently. If your avatar has mesh genitalia from Aeros, Physics, The V, or VAW, the urination function that comes with the mesh genitalia is compatible with the Toilet meter.
