Really Needy HUD
for your Second Life
Drugs
The Really Needy [DRUG] script can be used for making

Ready-made medicines and supplements are listed below. More may be added over time, based on customer feedback.
Alcohol
The Really Needy [DRUG] script or [ETHANOL] script will enable you to "make" your own alcoholic drinks.

This illustrates what the contents of a configuration notecard for a Glass of Wine may look like:

TYPE 1
DRUG ETHANOL,15,8
TOILET -10

The first line means that the Glass of Wine is a beverage that can be found and consumed when a user types "/drink".

The second line specifies the drug type as alcohol with further characteristics represented by the two numbers
-
the first number represents the alcohol content
-
the second number represents the volume of the beverage in ounces
In this example, this glass of wine is 8 oz in volume, and alcohol content is 15%.

The third line means that consuming this glass of wine will decrease your avatar's Toilet meter by 10%.

NOTE: For the drinker of the beverage to "feel" the effects of intoxication, he or she needs to have the Really Needy HUD, plus the Blood Alcohol Content add-on.

Some ready-made alcoholic beverages are listed below.

IS ALCOHOL A TOXIN?

When we talk about alcohol, most often we are referring to a broad category of drinkable liquids like wine, beer and liquor. Ethanol is the active ingredient in these liquids and is the actual “alcohol” we are referring to.
Ethanol is responsible for the symptoms of intoxication and the potentially harmful effects on the body. Alcohol is a toxin in large doses, with various physiological effects on the body including the liver and brain.
The liver is directly affected by alcohol consumption. When we drink, an enzyme in our liver converts the alcohol to acetaldehyde, a chemical more toxic than alcohol, which is responsible for many hangover symptoms. Another liver enzyme called acetaldehyde dehydrogenase converts the acetaldehyde into acetic acid (vinegar), rendering it harmless.
In short, when we consume more alcohol than our liver can handle in a short amount of time, acetaldehyde can build up. We feel intoxicated and the next day we can feel pretty bad. Over time, if acetaldehyde lingers in the liver too long or too often, it can cause severe health problems.
BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT (BAC)
Blood Alcohol Content (Novice Drinker) is an add-on included and pre-installed in the Really Needy HUD Lifestyle Edition.
It is an optional add-on for the Really Needy HUD RPG Edition.
You also have the option of purchasing the Blood Alcohol Content Power Drinker add-on at the store.

The Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) script calculates the alcohol content in your avatar's blood and interacts with the rest of your Really Needy HUD to simulate different levels of intoxication. Refer to the table at below right for the effects of intoxication.

Your avatar's BAC level is determined by the amount of alcohol consumed, body weight, and gender (male / female), using the Widmark formula. Yes, your avatar can get drunk to the same degree in SL as one might in RL !
The default avatar weight for BAC calculation is 120 pounds for females and 150 pounds for males.
Your avatar's weight can be customised by a Physician using the Physician Bag.

By drinking alcoholic beverages over time, your avatar is able to accumulate Alcohol Experience Points, or Alcohol XP.
-
Alcohol XP > 60: High alcohol tolerance
-
Alcohol XP > 30: Medium alcohol tolerance
-
Alcohol XP > 10: Low/mild alcohol tolerance

Toxins & Antidotes
Toxins are a type of Drug that will harm your Health.

Toxins can be described in terms of
-
Strength
-
Damage
-
Speed

For example, this is in the configuration notecard for a poisoned Really Large Banana:

TYPE 0
DRUG TOXIN,5,-20,40

The first line means that the banana is a food item that can be found and consumed when a user types "/eat". Set to Type 1 for beverage item to be consumed by "/drink".

The second line means that the toxin has a Strength of 5, and will decrease your Health meter by 20% every 40 seconds.
To neutralise a toxin, the antidote's Strength must be at least equal to the toxin's Strength.

If the name of your food item does not suggest there is anything wrong or different about it compared to a regular food item (eg. calling it "Poisoned Banana" will give it away), AND there are no visual cues that it is toxic, AND your config notecard does not allow a non-owner to read it, then there is no way that someone else can tell the item will poison them if they eat or drink it.

This is a sample configuration notecard to make an antidote which will neutralise the above toxin. (Type 0 is for "/eat" while Type 1 is for "/drink").

TYPE 0
DRUG ANTID,5

Medicines & Supplements
Medicines are a type of Drug taken orally for the treatment of Diseases.

Supplements are products taken orally for supplementing the diet, including minerals, vitamins or other natural biological substances. (Supplements will have some effect on the behaviour of one of your Needs).

Temiflu, Emodium, Amoxicillin requires a doctor's prescription, while the other items listed below are available over-the-counter. (This is just a roleplay guide).
